Looking to learn more about 2022 wedding trends for blooms? You’ve come to the right place! A lot of what we saw reign prevalent in 2021 is set to remain this year, albeit with the addition of a few new ‘wow’ factors.

Colour schemes
Earthy tones, natural whites and greens will still play a big part this year, both through the use of real blooms and dried flowers. However, a number of the trends for this year will replace the ever-popular Eucalyptus with seasonal grasses and foliage, which not only looks good but is much easier to get a hold of.
Pops of colour will be added to the mix with dusky pinks (which were popular throughout 2021), alongside the addition of more toffee and cappuccino highlights. These will be applied to arrangements in the shape of pretty roses, pampas grasses and dried bunny tails. The effect? Expect a whimsical, bohemian style.
On another note, we can expect this year to bring with it a range of bright hues, which have been thrown in the mix to lift spirits especially after the events of the past two years.
Many florists will be applying these hues through the use of fluid foliage, void of any pre-planned colour palette, before embracing what is in season instead.
Both arrangements and bouquets are also expected to adopt a more relaxed style. Expect to see lots of flowing, hand-dyed ribbons to accompany the array of blooms being used.
Installation pieces
Expect installation pieces that take on the shape of flower clouds, finished with huge pops of colour and lush foliage. The aim? To fill larger spaces, while creating impact.
This year, many will embrace this trend through the use of natural growing arches, which will be used as statement backdrops for wedding ceremonies.
Reception decor
For reception spaces, anticipate seeing lengthy wooden tables adorned with cutesy glass bud vases, and embellished with wildflowers and foliage, all positioned down the middle of the table.
Those looking to make table displays double up as wedding favours could opt to switch the glass vases for terracotta pots. This promises a real statement for the big day!
A more relaxed style
Floral crowns will be replaced by delicate bud Roses, loosely pinned in the hair. This more relaxed style is expected to be echoed by bridal bouquets, with structured, tight arrangements being replaced by loose, natural styles.
The result will be a more ethereal look, while groomsmen could boast a wildflower, mini arrangement to compliment the relaxed vibe.
For those on a tight budget…
When it comes to sticking to a budget, a top tip involves re-using your blooms throughout the day.
For example, meadow tabletop runners can be added to the top table once the wedding breakfast has been cleared away, whilst a growing arch can be doubled up as an entrance to the dance floor, as a backdrop for selfies or used to frame your cake!
Another way to save in a big way is to order your blooms from an online florist. There are a variety of styles of flower to choose from, as well as numerous hues and sizes, meaning there is something to suit all budgets.
Many of the arrangements will also have relatively short delivery times, as long as you order before a certain cut off point.
Popular variants for 2022
The old fashioned O’Hara Garden Rose is expected to come into play in a big way this year, as is the Pompom Dahlia and Stocks – all are renowned for their incredible look and smell! In addition, blooms such as pastel roses, peonies, dahlia, and carnations, which were all popular in 2021, will remain favourites for floral arrangements and wedding bouquets in 2022.
Those looking for something less traditional my turn to playful blooms such as hellebore and sweet pea, as they offer a great alternative to more traditional blooms.
The texture is another way to add interest to wedding bouquets and displays, and it is expected to be a popular trend this year, especially when combined with colour.
This effect can be created with both fresh and dried flowers, whilst additions in the shape of stone or wood will add diverse energy to floral wedding decorations.
Romantic pastels
Romantic pastel hues were hugely popular in 2021 and are expected to remain prevalent in 2022. Expect to see a variety of peach and pink blooms take centre stage, with roses being a top choice of bloom, as well as peonies in perfect pinks, amazing azure hues, and delicate mint shades.
Bigger won’t be better
Debating what size of wedding bouquet to choose? Bigger will not be deemed better this year. Dainty floral arrangements are predicted to trend for 2022 and these often look amazing as they boast both an effortless and refined vibe.
