Top Tips for Living Your Best Single Life

Singles Day is fast approaching on November 11th, so with this date just around the corner, it’s just the time to be living your best single life!

However, for many, especially those who long to be in a relationship, this isn’t always an easy feat. Thankfully, we have an array of top tips to help you embrace being a singleton.

Why it’s fun to be detached

Just because you are flying solo, this isn’t to say you can’t have mountains of fun! In fact, being alone enables us to focus on ourselves and what we really want, without having to consider the needs of others! Yes, it may sound a little selfish, but everyone is entitled to think about themselves every now and again.

Focusing on you and you only is a great way to learn about what it is you really want, which in turn will help you meet someone when you are ready, as opposed to rushing into a partnership. Remember, when in a relationship, you must learn to split your energy between two people – you and your partner.

Practice self-care

Making time for yourself is hugely important and if single, this is the perfect time to do this. Begin by considering your physical, emotional, social, psychological, and intellectual state and embrace your self-care needs. Practicing self-love, self-acceptance, and self-understanding is one way to live your best single life.

It’s also a great way to learn more about what fulfills you, which will help you to grow as a person. It can help contribute to your sense of purpose. Self-care can be anything from yoga or travel to reading, writing, art, or spending time with friends and family – it’s all about what works for you!

You may even wish to surround yourself with houseplants to create a new ambiance in your home. Some have air-purifying properties and are also incredibly good at helping you to sleep!

Express gratitude

Looking to love being single? Start practicing gratitude. One way to do this is to think of three things you’re grateful for every day. It’s best to do this first thing in the morning as soon as you wake up.

Knowing these things exist without having a partner in your life will give you a sense of empowerment and fulfillment, and it also allows you to have a period of reflection.

Let go of the past

If you wish to embrace single life in 2021, it’s time to give yourself a break, irrespective of how many mistakes you may have made in the past. No one is perfect and today is a new day so start fresh – you can’t change the past but you can map out your future!

Give plenty of thought to what you’d like to achieve and use the opportunity as a chance to set yourself goals for the future too.

Learn to love your relationship with yourself

Recognizing how amazing you are is a key part of embracing single life. You may have been hurt in the past, which is why it’s important to learn to love yourself before stepping into a new relationship.

After all, the best relationship you can have is the one you have with yourself.

Go on a holiday alone

Don’t be scared to do things alone, even if you are in a relationship. From going to the cinema by yourself to booking a solo holiday, there are plenty of things (that may seem scary) that you can do on your own.

Learning to love your own company is a great way to be at one with yourself, and to test your comfort zone.

Make new friends

Although alone time is good at times, it’s also important to remember that you are not an island, and you do require a strong support system. If you don’t have one of these, create one by reaching out to new people.

From joining the local gym to attending a book club, art class, or local coffee morning, there are plenty of ways to meet new people. It’s also a great way to reduce stress or to take your mind off other elements of life.

Do something out of the ordinary

Being single is a time to be daring! Consider doing some ‘we shouldn’t be doing this’ things and live your life to the full! This is the only time you will be able to think about the needs and wants of you, and you only, so embrace being single by taking risks!

Whether it’s dancing with a stranger, jumping on a plane on a whim and visiting a city you’ve always dreamed of visiting, going on a blind date, or eating food you never thought you’d try, there are plenty of fun ways to take risks. So what are you waiting for, go do it!
