Flowers on a First Date: Yes or No?

The dating game is a minefield and it’s one that must be entered with trepidation.

There are few things in life that are more uncertain than a first date.

What should you wear? Where should you go? Do you bring flowers on a first date: yes or no?

It’s so hard to know what to expect from a modern day first date as a huge number of people now e-meet on dating websites and social media websites so the chances are they don’t really know one another when they turn up nervously for their romantic encounter.

So do you go in all guns blazing or play it on the cool side?

Keep in mind that the modern day woman scares easily, so the consensus among modern men is, ‘no’.

Arriving on your date’s doorstep with a bunch of flowers in hand and a nervous grin on your face doesn’t convey the right message and ultimately can make you look like you’re coming on a bit strong.

Having said that, romance isn’t completely dead!

The act of giving a bouquet of flowers is still extremely gratifying and the elation a woman feels when she receives a bunch of flowers is priceless, so it’s a tradition that should be altered slightly rather than banished entirely.

When a date has gone incredibly well and the conversation has flowed freely; there were laughs a plenty and the two of you hit it off with such aplomb that you know you’re onto something good, then why not send her some flowers the next day?

Not only are you thanking her for her company and for a fun filled evening, but you are showing off your thoughtful side and she will be guaranteed to be thinking about you for the rest of that day, that week even and will be keen to get that crucial second date in the diary!

You also get bonus points if you pick a flower with meaning. For example, daffodils are associated with chivalry, orchids with delicate beauty and of course, the illustrious red rose is linked to romance.

By choosing some of these meaningful flowers, your date will not only be impressed, but she will now know there’s a little more to you than meets the eye.
