Halloween Flowers Ideas for Fright Night

With everyone’s favorite spooky holiday just around the corner, it will soon be time for homes to start decorating. But where do you start?

While ghoulish decorations are easy to come by, there are those who prefer the natural touch. Halloween flowers can really spice things up in the home and can lend an air of mystery to any autumnal décor…but what flowers should you choose?

Orange roses

Roses may be the traditional flower of love but that doesn’t mean they can’t be used in any other contexts. Pick out a livid orange bunch to really brighten things up in your home at Halloween. Their vibrancy will accentuate any pumpkin jack o’ lanterns and creates a really strong contrast against a plain background or table arrangement.

The best thing about these flowers is they look just as good in a bouquet on their own as they do in an arrangement with other flowers. If choosing to build your own arrangement then there are plenty of other oranges, red and yellow flowers that will complement orange roses but you should be careful not to over-saturate the colour. Break things up with splashes of greenery and maybe some ghoulish white flowers – like lilies or daisies – to achieve balance.

Orange lilies

Speaking of lilies, if you want something a little bolder than the white variety for your fright night flowers then why not opt for orange varieties? Again, these are bold and vibrant and the perfect colour choice for Halloween, but you can always put them in an arrangement with their white sisters to break things up a little.

Remember that while lilies have big, bold petals, they have slender stems and minimal foliage. This means that if arranging them in a vase you may need some greenery or other flowers to bulk out the bouquet.

Of course, you don’t have to put them in a vase – if you really want to create something spooky then why not tie a bunch of orange and white lilies together and lay them across your dining table? After all, lilies are a flower often associated with funerals and this could lend your Halloween home a real spooky edge.

Blue dendrobium

Want to bring the essence of Halloween into your home but not a huge fan of orange? Fear not, there are plenty of other spooky flowers you can use to build bouquets which will amaze and terrify in equal measure.

A favorite option has to be blue dendrobium. These flowers are actually dyed electric blue for a vivid blue and purple color combination that almost seems to pulsate with life and you can buy them in specialist Halloween bouquets from SerenataFlowers.com

Blue dendrobium looks great on its own as a single bouquet too because they have a full yet delicate appearance and their electrifying vibrancy is ideal if you’re looking to recreate Frankenstein’s laboratory in your own home.

Let’s just hope you don’t wake up the monster…
